Like millions of others - I adore birds of both the decorative and feathered variety scattered about my home.

Silver, bronze, white and cast iron birds are hugely popular with me and I have them dotted around both indoors and out. My latest enhancement to this collection is to construct little nests for them to snuggle into. I'm playing with all kinds of textures for this....straw, vines, yarn and wire. These gorgeous little cuties you see above are from the wonderfully creative girls at Rose Harvest. They've perfected the art of 'nesting' beautifully - while I continue to work on mastering the craft!

A Fresh Start...

We've spent the best part of the weekend remodelling the master bedroom. No - it isn't the image you see above - but my creative direction has been taken from this picture. Lots of old, weathered wood and texture - in a monochromatic pallette with a touch of chocolate and charcoal for extra depth.

We've painted the main walls a chalky white and done a feature wall in a deep steely charcoal colour. This will be offset with rich dark furniture and crisp, fresh white bed linen.

We've pulled up the carpets to reveal some old polished floorboards. Next we need to sand them back and restain and polish them and we're done. Then it's on to the best part .... the decorating!

Everything's Coming up Roses...

I recently discovered a gorgeous variety of rose that I saw and instantly fell in love with. This weekend, I'm laying in my new gated garden arch at the foot of the steps on my garden path. I'll be planting this stunning creeping rose over it.

The rose is called 'Pierre de Ronsard'. Isn't it divine?

I am excited to announce that after almost a year away - I am close to re-launching my new Wild Oak Design website!

The new site will be a collective project of all my hobbies inclding my Mythical Muse Paperie range of unique, quality hand crafted paperie items - my new Homewares range - which includes my new range of Vintage French Country inspired linens and wooden signs - all handcrafted by me - as well as my usual Wild Oak Design website and blog design services.

I have extended my Wild Oak Website Design service to now include a collection of 'Limited Edition Designs' which can be purchased from as little as USD$30.00

I will still be offering a limited number of the ever popular Custom Designed Websites during 2010 as well.

On a personal note, my taste has moved very much into a rustic, weathered, french country style and as such - I have been redecorating my home and garden over the past few months with interesting pieces I have either made or collected - or am still waiting to 'weather' up out there in the elements! I look forward to sharing some pictures with you soon.
